its been a loooong weekend. stop. please. i wana get OFF!

WOW what an exhausting weekend ive had.

not only have i been working at a psychic mind and body expo. (urh). but a friend has been in town which meant sleepless nights and endless walking. talking. and some good food. which wasnt all soooo bad. i have had. mind you. 4 nights now in a row with less than 5 hours sleep. and i am literally seeing things hahaha.

anyways.

so i found a badass jacket potato at the showgrounds to eat. i got them to make it from scratch with no cheese. so it was fresh and piping hot. bean mix. lettuce and tomato. easy. and nice. and vegan. ;) just the fact it was $10 kinda put me off.....

we ate at ying chow on gouger again the other night. it was rad. i had a bowl of the vegetarian soup. with tofu and some finely chopped veggies. i picked some coriander chilli
chicken from luce.
and some salt and pepper tofu from ben. an i was set.

i found a stall at the hippie-fest with decorative cupcakes and cake. and they were also selling chutneys and mustards. i didnt try any but they seemed
popular. nat came and snuck us some shepherds pie and felafel too. which was amazing.

i went out saturday night and saw some bands
and hung out at sugar. went to oyster bar on east terrace and ate a dozen oysters amidst all the chaos. I LOVE how they serve their oysters with a slice of dark rye. (how they should be served) and im pretty sure its my favourite oyster bar in adelaide because of that. and the price of the
oysters is pretty damn close to a buck each. :)))

not bad.

besides that not much over the two days. im exhausted and sore from standing up for hours..
and i start a new job as of monday :) i wonder what kinda food this will get me eating.. xxxkm.

TODAY AT THE B.. BEE!!

the menu was pretty expensive for a pub.
decent portion size, and pretty regular shit to expect from a pub too... meal wise... the decor was lovely. and the staff were alright.

i ordered a dzn oysters and a salt and pepper squid salad.
came to $35. oops.

other table dwellers ordered ribs.
chicken parmys and a 100% beef burger.
drank pellegrino and then went to..

cibo RUNDLEEEEEE to see anthony and get bonsoy latte and the orange cake with lemon gelati again.

YOU PEOPLE HAVE TO TRY THIS!!!!! tell them kaylyn send you hahaha

xxx KM.

i showed up at aprils with a bottle of Rawsons Retreat ($1
3 red) and she had stirfried broadbeans and tofu in broth for me. PLUS!! these INFAMOUS lemon polenta

LUNCH. brekky. sorta deal.

ive been drinking lots of tea lately.guess thats not a bad thing.

but i didnt have a coffee again this morning. i always feel weird when i dont start the day with coffee. but theres plenty of time later to drink some. and its now nearly 3. so i can visit anthony at CIBO RUNDLE.

adelaide has great coffee. and ive found in australia. most places do. it is quite competitive. and european influenced. i should write a specific post ON coffee.....

two places i would get coffee in melbourne were THE BARISTA HOME INSTITUTE on Elizabeth st. and DeBELLAS ROASTING HOUSE in north melbourne.
both were totally exceptional.
but in adelaide.
CIBO rundle is my JOINT.
AAAAAAAAAAAANYWAYS.

for lunch today.
i had a mountain bread wrap.

ingredients and details can always vary. you can put whatever the fuck you want in it really...

i did mine without cheese. for obvious reasons (if i had some nice chevre i woulda put that in. but i dont. so i didnt)

MOUNTAIN BREAD WRAP---
2 slices of rice bread.
1/2 an avocado
1 small tomato
1/2 a grated carrot and cucumber
4 broccolini stems blanched
1 boiled egg
a couple anchovies and tonnes of black pepper to taste

i put all the avo on the slightly overlapped mountain bread. the grated goods and the tomato.
layed out the anchovies evenly and roughly chopped the broccolini onto it.
peeled the boiled egg and added that. folded the wrap up. and ate it. haha.
easy. ill have more on dinner. i think tonights guna be an outing... somewhere. vegan. vego.. something... we'll have to see. and im visiting april to steal some of her secret recipe polenta lemon cake. SO WATCH OUT.
x x x KM.

LAZY AFTERNOOOON!!!

i had a HUGE percolated coffee before i went to the gym today. and some pineapple that was sitting on the counter from this morning.. so i was amped on caffein.

when i got home.
i put some gluten free penne in with some chopped veal steak. mushroom. spinach. fresh tomato and a little sweet chilli and green onion. chucked it in the microwave for 3 mins and devoured it. not very interesting.

i didnt leave the house or do anything around it except for the gym. all day. BOOOORINGGG. i drank some DOPE ASS twinings black tea with vanilla. and read.

this evening i made some gluten free vegan chocolate mousse. which i have to be honest. is not that flava. i sliced up a nice ripe banana in my bowl. and drank a cup of green+peppermint tea with it. it was out of a packet. haha so all you had to do was add water and whip to consistency. which i got lazy round the 3 minute mark. so its consistency wasnt that amazing.
thats it. nothing else to report. except this weekend im guna make sure i put some good shit up :D

FLAVA in yo ear.

i woke up to my mum making kangaroo sausages and gluten free pasta. no coffee for breakfast.
weird way to start my day kinda. i met up with my
mate alex at sushi train on gouger at 2pm for lunch.
kinda steering away from glutenous stuff, so i got sashimi and beans an stuff. i DID get some jellyfish gear. which is always good. just drank tea an ate beans.
allup $25 for us to eat. always good an cheap. love that shit.

so we finished sushi. and walked round a bit in the LAST of the sunshine that remains from the warmer part of the year in australia. and went to visit steph.

she had some dimsims in the freezer i steamed a little later on. and ate with ABC sweet soy. they were damn good

we went down to the torrens and met up with some crew who were eating NANDOS chicken and claiming it to be the best chicken in the world. i choose to take that challenge up soon. and make better chicken than nandos.

we went back to stephs and played scrabble. then i took off on my bike and went to YING
CHOW!!! where i ordered salt and pepper bean curd and chinese greens. i didnt like how the whole container was BOK CHOY so i didnt take any photos..

but april made this
DOPE packet butterschotch cake thing. i ate a bunch of it. probly not a good idea. full of milk and wheat and sugar i bet. thanks though april.

ill have some interesting stuff to talk about by the end of this week i think. xxx KM

NIGHTCAP.

HOT chocolate.
zymil milk and some tootsie rolls

my flash is crazy.

THE GOOD FROM THE BAD

i went with my family tonight to a buffet.

my aunty and puerto rican uncle an their two kids aida and joseph. my little bro. his girlfriend shannan. and of course.
me and my mother.
this is some prosciutto. cob corn. bean salad. cucumber. tomato. boiled (justright) baby potatoes. beetroot. and a lemon wedge.

there are only a few buffets left around adelaide. theres one down in walkerville which is quite impressive.
my nonna. who is old. likes these masses of food choice cafeteria style eateries.
and apparently. my american family do too. so. ive been to a couple. you see.

me and my mum have previously spoken about how this style of eating is just too americanized to be successful in australia.

this is some pavlova i mooshed onto a cone n amashed into a bowlfull of hundreds and thousands. it is NOT ice cream. i was reminiscing on them WIZZ FIZZ cones from back in the day. full of sherbert.

anyway. i ate some cool shit. and took a couple cool photos. check it out. x x x

ONE LAST THING. MELON VEGAN JELLLLLLYYYYY!!!

SARAH--- melon jelly. seaweed styles.

so sarah found this jelly from the chinese grocer that is made from seaweed called NUTRIJELLY.

you can control how sweet it is. because it comes unsweetened.

SO RECIPE FOR TODAY-- sarahs melon jelly.

packet of jelly.
boiling water-- 700ml to one packet.
sugar to taste.

boil. mix for 3 mins. til dissolved.
pour into portions or bowl or whatever you want.

let set in fridge. til set.

EAT. DAMN GOOD.

LAST NIGHT!!!! MAYHEM!!!

Before i proceeded on my dinner date with sarah and steven. i stopped in to see my old boss and friend. nat. who was cooking (as per usual) and is always a great inspiration for me. she had some stuff on the go

I ATE A LOT LAST NIGHT

sarah and i decided to hit the seafood tip.
we ate at OYSTER BAR on gouger. where the smokey bay oysters were 11.90 PDZ. we coulda gotten them cheaper somewhere. but we ate late so. it was our own fault. they were fresh and amazing though. some lemon and tobasco and voila. entree.

we then proceeded down to sushi train. which is always packed and unlicensed. so when i eat there its just green tea all the way. they have a great selection of all kinds of sushi and sushimi. i just got straight sushimi and some endamame and seaweed salad.

we decided to sit down across the road at CIBO on gouger. which i dont like as much as the CIBO on RUNDLE because my mate anthony works there and he makes the BEST BONSOY lattes.
but i then ordered (while eating my sushimi and beans) a latte and this AMAZING orange cake anthony put me and my girlfriend April onto a week or two ago.
ITS GLUTEN FREE AND VEGAN!!! and i like to ask for it with a scoop of their LEMON gelati (which im pretty sure has egg in it) but it is the PERFECT tangy balance of good text
ured moist cake. icing. and cold gelati. i ate it in about 30 seconds flat.

stephen and i then rode down to the sex shed where we screwed round with out bikes. i took the over sized toe clips off my undersized bike and put some better tyres on my wheels. we ate some BAKED ITALIAN SAUSAGE which i dont have pictures of... but it was courtesy of AL and it was amazing. although. we all know everythings better baked hahah.

LAST WEEKEND IN MELBOURNE. QUICK RECAP.

so i was in melbourne last weekend. and i ate at my old work VEGEBAR on Brunswick st. in Fitzroy. highly recommended for vegetarian. gluten free options and vegan meals.
we visited and said hi. i got curry. it was alright. not so great without rice or some sort of grainy
 condiment. but still good.

i ALSO ate at one of my favourite fast cheap japanese places GIGI on swanston st. right near off your tree.
which
is licensed so u can get beer and saki. and had the rad beef tataki they do. and had saki with leonard. and continued to drink all day.

sister bella. where i used to work. cnr lonsdale and swanston behind the 711 in the all
eyway.
does their own infused ghetto vodkas. chilli. orange. vanilla. rose... theyre damn good.

i was drinking the vanilla with cranberry juice. very refreshing. not to mention i kept drinking the rest of the weekend. i dont have any more good stuff to say about that.

ANYWAYS. back to this week.
